description
Fantastical creatures populate this stunning Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre porcelain plaque. Displaying the beautiful Elves in a Pine Tree scene, this enchanting plaque is inhabited by a multitude of colorful elves and flora in an ethereal land. Rare and in excellent condition, this plaque represents one of the most intriguing styles of Wedgwood pottery.

Introduced by Wedgwood artist Daisy Makeig-Jones in 1915, Fairyland Lustre marked a true departure from the factory's history of classic design and subdued color with its fiery hues and fanciful subjects. Fairyland Lustre wares were well received and the range of works produced during the 1920s was remarkable. Active production of Fairyland Lustre ceased in 1929 and Makeig-Jones retired in 1931, ending the reign of Fairyland Lustre. Today, these works are extremely rare and highly sought after by collectors.
